This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. (Genesis 6:9)
Can this be said about you? If not, why not? Before you answer, please understand that walking with God doesn’t mean perfection. Later in the same chapter of Genesis, we learn that Noah drank wine from fruit planted in his vineyard and became drunk. The meaning of this verse is that Noah was a man who did his best to follow God. He is most famous for obeying God’s command to build an ark, but Noah tried to submit to God’s ways on a daily basis. Because of his commitment, the Lord commends him in Scripture.
Many times, walking with God simply means doing what you know is the right thing. Do this in marriage, in handling money, and in the way you do your job. As Commander in Chief of our universe, God is looking for people who are willing to be soldiers in His army and walk with Him in obedience. Walking with God is not a matter of capability or feeling. It’s a decision.
